Mode C The Blogger's curse
I am extremely sad and hurt, and not for the first time because of my blog.
It is something that seems to be so inexplicable initially but once you think about it, all of it starts making sense. The writing of a blog is, in my opinion, all about putting down your feelings and emotions in a manner to which you will be able to relate, some time in the future when you go back to the blog and reminisce about the days gone by.
In the process, however, one tends to write of memories the way they came about, not shrouding them in any manner of propriety. In conjunction with this, if one also names people in the blog, it no longer remains mere memories associated with one's own self or actions. The interpretations start coming in, scope becomes broader and the probable impact of the written word is deep rooted.
Reminded of the same today through some context, I was made to realize that in the communication age of the present, reference checks for jobs, opinion formation by... (more)

leap of faith Merry Christmas
Today is a nice day. It's blazingly sunny out even though it's freezingly cold. The blazingly sunny makes up for the freezingly cold.
I took our van down to get an oil change. The Husband came with me as he is now officially on break from work. I guess he just wanted to come and go for a walk with me. We dropped the van off and walked home. It's about a mile away and the distance was very noticeable in the cold.
Now they've called me and said that it's ready to be picked up. There's a mall on the way to the oil change place. Maybe I'll pop in there just to get in amongst the Christmas Eve shopping drama.
I'm still thinking of New Year's goals, but for now, my goals are much more short term. I'm just thinking of how to make the most of this break now that the whole family is off for a week together.
I ran this morning too. I notice that I'm in a better mood on days when I run in the morning. There certainly is something to the whole endorphine thing.
On that note, one... (more)
FaceOmeter That Christmas Feeling
After a house Christmas Dinner on the 22nd, yesterday saw arguably the most important Christmas tradition enacted - the Star Wars marathon. My computer, carried laboriously into the living room along with several duvets, provided viewing of Parkes's un-1996'd DVDs. Sarah also came down to join Roxy and I, and Parkes was there himself to deal single-handedly with our house's 'overabundance of beer' crisis. Mark Taylor dropped round for the first two films, there was takeaway pizza (although late) and I really, really enjoyed my first day off in about 15...
It's the first time I've seen the un-1996'd trilogy since DVDs were invented, and I hadn't realised how much they really got wrong even in '96, to say nothing of '04. I'm aware that approximately 477 previous posts on this blog alone (such as this one), to say nothing of the wider internet, have dealt with George Lucas's betrayal of a generation. Scoring more points off this one is too easy, and superfluous. But whilst picking the... (more)
